Who Should Play Finnick?

I know! I know!

Well, I know now.

At first, I had no idea.  In my mind, casting Finnick would be as perilous as casting Edward Cullen.  And considering my fondness and appreciation of The Hunger Games is considerably stronger than my affection for Twilight, and considering the flack the producers have gotten for their casting of Katniss, Gale, and Peeta, I figured the mighty movie makers would use an animated version of Finnick.  After all, when a character is described as so charming and gorgeous, someone in the audience is bound to be disappointed by a mere mortal actor playing this dream guy.  That's what I thought until a student, Pensudar, and I were brainstorming possible Finnicks....

Pen: "Zac Efron."
Me: "Ew!"
(Just in terms of Finnick - sorry Zac!)

Me: "James Marsden - like he looked in The Notebook."
Pen: "Too old!"
(sorry James!)

Pen: "Ryan Reynolds!"
Me: "No way!"
(See comment to Zac - sorry Ryan!)

Me: "Ryan Gosling! - Like he looked in that movie with Steve Carell!"
Pen: "Crazy Stupid Love! That is such a good movie!"

Pen: "What about Armie Hammer?"
Me: "Hm! I like that... that could work..."

Then we were off to class.

But that got me thinking. I know lots of fans have already pushed for this - but sometimes it takes me a while. And after reading an article about Armie in In Style's March issue, I am totally on board.

The top 8 reasons Armie Hammer should play Finnick in Catching Fire and Mockingjay:

1) Armie, like Finnick, is extremely tall and handsome.  (Armie is 6' 5"!)

2) Julia Roberts called Armie "a terrific combination of debonair and boyish" and that he "has a great sense of fun when he is working, which, I believe, comes out of him being so very prepared." (He sounds like Finnick!)

3) Naomi Watts said that "Armie is one of the most confident, intelligent young men I've ever met.  He's almost intimidating because of this, but spend enough time with him and the boyish qualities can be found.  He's a good old-fashioned bloke." (Doesn't this sound like Katniss's view?)

4) Armie said that "Even in the freezing cold I love flip-flops.  It's foot freedom!"  (If Panem had flip-flops, Finnick the fish would wear them, I'm sure!)

5) He married his princess - and is totally happy.... Awww! Maybe she could play Annie.

6) According to E-Online, Armie's character in his current movie Mirror Mirror is often disrobed... No nerves then for playing Finnick!

7) According to Wikipedia, Armie played Harrison Bergeron in the film 2081 based on the short story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut.  The character is an extremely handsome, tall, athletic young man in the future where the government has imposed severe & violent laws on its citizens which Harrison rebels against.  (FINNICK!)

8)  And the biggest reason Armie Hammer should play Finnick (in his own words): "Sometimes I carry a rope to practice knots.  I have the Knot Guide app on my phone.  I even have a list of my favorite knkots to tie.  Bowline to tow things with, clinch knot for fishing, constrictor knot to bind things.  Highwayman's hitch, San Diego jam knot..."  (HE TIES KNOTS!)
